Summary

The findspot is close by Hooley Wood, near the village of Hooley Bridge, on the bank of the river Roche, about midway between Bury and Rochdale, and rather more than a mile north of Heywood. During a house construction, workers found a ceramic vessel. Seven hundred coins were recovered from an estimated 1,000. The coins were antoniniani of Gallienus, Salonina, Postumus, Marius, Victorinus, Claudius II, Tetricus I and II, Aurelian and Probus. Besides the above, some of the coins found are supposed to be of Vespasian, and of one of the three emperors "named Severus." 16 antoninianiin Rochdale Museum: Gallienus (sole reign) 4, Victorinus 4, Claudius II, Tetricus I 2, Tetricus II 4, uncertain radiate.
