Summary

A hoard of denarii and antoniniani (Antoninus Pius to Philip), found in a Romano-British pot while digging for rabbits. The hoard was said to consist of 973 denarii and 173 antoniniani (= 1,146 coins), but the types listed in NC 1954 are those of 965 denarii and 181 antoniniani (= 1,146 coins), with the addition of 6 further denarii for Julia Domna (= 1,152 coins) which had been omitted from previous calculations.

A fine grey ware flash of Romano-British type, meaning 6.9 in. (175mm) in height and 5.75 in. (147mm) at its widest point. The opening of the pot had been filled with a piece of textile and covered by another shallower vessel inverted over it.
