Fetching coin data
Thirty-four small to medium sherds from a single wheel made vessel made from a soft shelly fabric (South Midlands Shelly Ware) were recovered with the hoard. Weighing 347g (mean sherd weight 1 0.2 g), these sherds represent just the base and stub of the lower wall of a jar (?) whose straight sides rise steeply from a simple flat base (base diameter 80mm). The vessel was made from a relatively soft fabric, dark grey thorough out in colour; irregular fracture; moderate quantities ( 1 0- 1 5%) of poorly sorted pieces of flat fossil shell (0. 1 - 0.3mm in size), with rarer (<3%) quantities of large fragments (0.5- 1 .5mm).
